The general meeting was called to order by President Pete Downing at 7:05 p.m. Pete introduced himself, welcomed everyone and personally thanked Bob Moody of Hoffmann-La Roche for hosting the evening’s event. All present introduced themselves and their affiliations. President Downing asked for a motion to open the business meeting, Al Arnofsky motioned and Nazer Ali seconded the motion, the group unanimously approved.

Treasurer's Report - S. Butterfield

Scott reported that the 2001 budget was approved by the EB. A general membership vote was held at this meeting. The chapter has $17,827.44 in the account. Scott also mentioned that we have $ 3,827.44 in cash while the balance is in CD’s. President Downing asked for a motion to accept the treasurer’s report, Elizabeth Pfeiffer made a motion to accept the report, Richard Cestone seconded the motion. All were in favor.

Programs/Professional Development — Dan Levine

Dan Levine mentioned he is open for suggestions and ideas his e-mail address is pssemail@aol.com. Mentioned the following:

The chapter is planning an 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher on April 20th.

The Academy sponsored leadership workshop will be held on May 3-4, 2001 in Lyndhurst, NJ.

Regulatory Affairs — Mrunal Vyas

Mrunal provided a useful handout on OSHA Web Sites and an update notice on the Hazardous Waste Manifest System. Both handouts will be posted on the chapter’s Web Page.

Door Prize

Kristen reported that within the next two months the web page will be both upgraded and updated, she is looking for feedback on topics the chapter would like to see posted. Leadership Seminar — Elizabeth Pfeiffer

Liz reported that the next free leadership seminar will be held in New Jersey. The Seminar will be held on May 3&4 at the Novotel Hotel in Lyndhurst, NJ. It will be facilitated by Annette Petrick of Petrick Outsourcing, Inc.

Awards — Peter Downing

Reported that the NJ chapter is looking for nominees for champions of excellence.

Kristen Wolansky to be nominated for Young CHMM of the Year.

Nominations are due in to Peter Downing, well before the 15^th of April to allow time for review and signatures.

New Business — Pete Downing

The members agreed to the following:

The chapter will be hosting the second annual Blood Drive this year.

The second annual fishing trip will be scheduled for November 6th. (The same boat will be used, Deep Adventures III out of Belmar, NJ).

The meeting was closed at 8:30 p.m. Motion made by Scott Butterfield and seconded by Peter Spinney.
