Minutes from ACHMM-NJ General Membership Meeting (February 25, 2003) @ Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ

Executive Board Members Present- Alain Fortier, Michael Mandracchia, Scott Sherman, Rich Cestone, Barry Weissman
Executive Board Members Absent- Scott Butterfield, Dan Levine
6:00 PM 7:00 PM Buffet dinner
7:10 PM President Mike Mandracchia called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Formal introductions of everyone followed. In addition, Mike thanked J&J for their hospitality in hosting our meeting.
Secretary Report- Scott Sherman asked for approval of the minutes from the December, 2002 meeting which were posted on our website.

Treasureršs Report- Rich talked about the 2003 budget. He reported that we have $26,000.00 in our account. It was discussed at this time that we need a volunteer to work with Dan Levine to complete an internal audit of our financial books. Mike asked for a volunteer at this time.
Old Business
- Mike talked to the group about the need for more volunteers for committees.He was happy to report that two committtees are up and running which are Programs and the NJDEP.
- The last chance to submit a logo for the Chapter logo will be on March 25, 2003. The EB at that time will determine the winner.
New Business
- Educational Opportunites- Mike talked about the following upcoming courses:
- HAZWOPPER refresher on April 15th @PSE&G
- NJIT CHMM review course in April
- NJDEP CHMM review course in late April and early May
- General Announcements- Al Arnofsky talked about the OSHA/EPA Region II/ACHMM-NJ Alliance agreement. In addition, he talked about an upcoming meeting with OSHA concerning updates of OSHA regulations. More info on this in the coming months.
- Mike mentioned that our New Jersey chapter has three CHMM Fellows which is a national recognition of outstanding leadership and service to the CHMM credential. Those members are Al Arnofsky, Peter Spinney, and Bob West, who were all present.
- Mike talked about the “Cleanup Star Program” which seems to have a strong NJDEP influence for implementation of the program. More news on this should be available in the next couple months.
- No new information concerning the RCRA Initiative document.
- Mike said the chapter is still working on putting together a “Past Presidents” committee.
- Meeting announcements- The next EB meeting will be held at the Rutgers Club on March 25th, at 6:00PM. The April 22nd general membership meeting will be held at Fort Dix. This will be a joint meeting with the Philadelphia chapter. Info for both of these meetings will be posted on our website.
- Programs Report- Dave Goett reported that a featured speaker for the June meeting was in the works. Sam Sofer will be discussing Bioreaction/Bioremediation.
Other news is that there is a possible meeting in August at Hoffman-LaRoche in Nutley. Dave also mentioned that there has been discussions about a possible Meadowlands Terrorism Conference in October of this year.
- Guest Speaker/Presentation- Tish Lacelle of J&J gave a wonderful presentation intitled “Gaps in our Laps” which focused on improving health and safety at remediation sites.
