Minutes from ACHMM-NJ/ACHMM-Philadelphia General Membership Meeting @ NJDEP on August 26, 2004

7:25PM- Call to Order(SB)- Scott welcomed everyone to the meeting. Personal introductions followed.
Reports and Committees
A. Secretary Report(SS)-Minutes from the June general membership meeting were approved.
M- Joe Besca
S- Pete Taylor
All in favor, none abstained.
B. Treasurers Report(RC)-Rich reported a balance of $37,037.00. Rich announced that there were seven new NJ chapter members paying for tonights meeting.
Committees
Programs(DG)- Dave announced that the NJ October meeting will be a joint meeting with the ASSE on Thursday, Oct. 14th, at McAteers in Somerset, NJ. The topic will be ìReactive Chemicalsî. The meeting will be posted on the website. The December holiday meeting is going to be scheduled for Dec. 7th or 14th. More info later.
Government Affairs(BW)- Barry talked again about promoting the Yahoo regulatory affairs Email group. Encouraged people to sign up.
Mike Mandracchia talked about the 93% pass rate for the NJDEP NOC course this past spring. All new NJ CHMMís that were present were then recognized by the members in attendance.
ACHMM representative Rich Cartwright talked about the upcoming conference in Phila.on Sept. 8th,9th, and 10th and that the National will have a booth there.
In addition, Rich indicated to the members that the ACHMM and the IHMM are going to have a joint board meeting for the first time. One area of discussion the the development of a CHMM In Training credential.
National Professional Development(MM)- Mike is currently looking for volunteers for development of the new NOC modules.
Old Busines
President Scott Butterfield announced that the EB is currently looking for new candidates for 2005.
New Business
NJ Chapter ACHMM Awards(SB)- Scott reported that the chapter won the following awards at this yearsí conference:
1. Mike Mandracchia won a Special Achievement Award
2. Members of the chapter who won Champions of Excellence Awards were acknowledged by President Scott Butterfield
3. Honor Roll of Champions for the NJ Chapter
President Scott Butterfield made a special presentation to Jim Rossís widow and son and presented them with Jimís Champions of Excellence Award which he won at the National Conference. Members gave a standing ovation.
Jim Ross Scholarship Program(DL)- Dan introduced the establishment of the Jim Ross Scholarship which will be to award a scholarship each year to a NJ College or University faculty or support employee for taking the CHMM exam. It will be an essay contest. At this time, Dan presented Jim Rossís widow with a copy of the Scholarship program.
Speaker Presentation(SB)- Scott introduced Brain Sogorka of NJDEP who gave a presentation on ìTRIADî- the process of integrating systematic planning, dynamic work plans, and real-time measurements of achieve more timely and cost-effective characterization and cleanup.
