Minutes from ACHMM-NJ Meeting @ Bristol Meyers Squibb on February 27, 2007

 

Executive Board Members Present- Cheryl Polios, John Egan, Rich Cestone, Charles Stebbins, Zvi Blank, Diane Pupa

 

Executive Board Members Absent- Dan Levine, Chandra Jennings

 

6:35 PM Cheryl called the meeting to order and thanked everyone for coming. Personal introductions followed.

 

Treasurers Report (RC)-Balance of $43,500 with $24.0000.00 in four CD’s with an interest rate >5%. Members were encouraged to update any contact information via form on the Chapter Website.

 

Secretary’s Report (DP): Report skipped since it wasn’t posted on the website yet.

 

Programs(CP)- Cheryl announced the following:

• April Chapter mtg - Wyeth in Madison – Topic – Pharmaceuticals in the Environment
• June Chapter mtg - NJDEP – Joint mtg with Philly Chapter – Topic: Grace Period Rules
• NOC will be held at NJDEP-Trenton again this year, May 1^st, 8^th, 15^th and 22^nd.
• Visit the National Awards Website to nominate yourself or your peers. Due date 4-20-07.
• The Chapter will have a table at the Cook College Career Night on 5-18-07. Please provide Cheryl with any applicable job postings to distribute on career night.
• The National Leadership Training in New Mexico will be held April 18-20. The Chapter will provide scholarship to members in good standing who are willing to take a leadership in the chapter. Contact Cheryl Polios if interested.

 

Regulatory Affairs(BW)- nothing to update.

 

New Business

 

ACHMM Update(MM)- Mike stated that the new Executive Director for the Academy, A. Cedric Calhoun started on January 2^nd. He also encouraged members to attend the Leadership Conference in New Mexico. He also mentioned that the National ACHMM Conference this year will be in Washington DC (Arlington Va) and encouraged members to attend as well.

Mike also stated due to proposals in the newly developed strategic plan, the Academy is looking to change/modify its by-laws and re-organizing the Board. More on this re-org coming soon in the February e-newsletter.

 

Cheryl announced that The Chapter is seeking a volunteer for Chapter Treasurer. On the job training will be provided. Interested parties should speak with Rich Cestone or Cheryl Polios.

 

Technical Session followed the meeting – Emergency Response at Pharmaceutical & Chemical Facilities presented by John A. Welling, III (Associate Director, Environmental Health and Safety Chief of Emergency Services).

 

Cheryl thanked the speaker and BMS for hosting the meeting.
