December Chapter Meeting Minutes reviewed and approved by Membership (Motion - John Egan – unanimous approval)
ν Rich Cestone mentioned minor typing error in minutes: under programs, Essentials course should read “Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) Course”
Attention called to Chapter Scholarship programs
ν Hierarchy consideration for scholarship to Nat’l Conference attendance: Presenting at the Conference, actively participating in Nat’l committees, company will not sponsor attendance
Awards (with input by CP)
ν Champions of Excellence – Nomination forms received from Nat’l. Those who attended Nat’l are strongly encouraged to apply for this award. Forms due to John Egan by April 15, 2008. Cheryl Polios will help applicants fill out the form, if there are any questions. Digital pictures are required. Due to National by April 30, 2008.
Government Affairs (BW)
Two handouts were provided on recent legislative/regulatory changes

Barry mentioned that submitting comments to the state is a good way to obtain a Champion of Excellence Award
Treasurer’s Report (MT)
Chapter profits = more than $8700 during 2007. There is currently a balance of approx $57,000 in the Chapter’s bank account. The EB adopted a 2008 budget with projected expenditures of $27,800.
Scholarship/Essentials Course (DL)
Scholarships – up on website.
ν Jim Ross – requirements reviewed.
ν Tom Dalton – for college students. Worth $1000. Must be a Junior with decided major and recommendation from Professor. Must be a family member of an ACHMM-NJ Chapter member: Due date - May 15, 2008.
Essentials Course – deadline for registration for course and exam is March 15, 2008
ν Course starts first week of May
ν 15 slots given to Chapter for attendance to NJDEP
ν 13 people registered today; 5 slots open for course at time of Chapter meeting
CHMMUnity Project (CJ)
φσ24 Chapter will host a project with Habitat for Humanity over the Summer = ACHMM-NJ Builds. One scheduled day, several counties will be incorporated. Information will be forthcoming on locations, dates and training opportunities.
